Fangbian Community

Overview

Fangbian Community belongs to Dongping Subdistrict and is the seat of the subdistrict office. The district government's administrative divisions page gives Dongping Subdistrict an area of 106.28 km² with 5 residents' committees and 5 villagers' committees, and records the seat as "Fangbian Residents' Committee". The five residents' committees are Fangbian, Xuxi, Changle, Dinghu and Jinhu; the five villagers' committees are Ailian, Aimin, Heping, Lishan and Bailu.

Administrative history

In May 2018 the provincial government approved the abolition of Dongping Town and the establishment of Dongping Subdistrict; the reply closes by stating that the subdistrict office sits within Fangbian Residents' Committee. It was issued on 15 May 2018.

The reply describes the new subdistrict as comprising six residents' committees — Fangbian, Xuxi, Changle, Dinghu, Jinhu and Qunli — and six villagers' committees — Ailian, Aimin, Heping, Lishan, Bailu and Jingshan. Today's administrative divisions page records five of each, so Qunli and Jingshan are no longer among them; the remaining names agree in both places. Fangbian's standing as the seat has not changed since the subdistrict was set up in 2018.

Points of doubt

• Dongping Subdistrict now has five residents' committees and five villagers' committees against six of each in the 2018 reply. The two names that dropped out can be inferred by comparing the two lists, but the date and the document of the change are not recorded in the sources used here.
