Administrative history Place Names and Origins Administrative History of Lishui From county to district, and from towns to subdistricts Lishui was established as a county in the eleventh year of the Kaihuang era of the Sui (591 CE). It became a district of Nanjing in February 2013, and two rounds of town-to-subdistrict conversion, in July 2015 and May 2018, produced the present five subdistricts and three towns with 118 villages and communities.
