Traditional village listing

The list published on the provincial housing department's website on 8 April 2020 records 107 villages in the first batch of traditional villages of Jiangsu. Shishanxia appears as "Shishanxia, Ruijia Village, Jingqiao Town".

Surnames and ancestral halls

The Paper reported on 8 April 2020 that the ancestral hall of the Liu family in the village was built in 1820, that it survived almost two centuries intact at the head of the village, and that it entered the municipal list of protected cultural relics in 2006. The report is a second-hand source of moderate authority; the protection grade and publication batch of the hall belong to the history site of this group. This entry records only the existence and date of the building at village level and does not infer the founding date of the village from it.

Points of doubt

• Both the construction date of the Liu ancestral hall and the year it entered the municipal list come from press reports; the formal documents are not held in this library.
• The date of founding and the origin of the name are not recorded in the sources used here.
• Shishanxia is a settlement within Ruijia Village and has a separate entry from the administrative village.
