Two Sets of Figures for Areas and Village Counts

Two figures for the district's area

• 1,064 sq km: the text of the administrative divisions page.
• 1,067 sq km: the text of the district profile page, and the introduction to the profiles section.

Two sections of the same website give different figures, and neither page carries a publication date, so which came first cannot be determined. This library keeps both, each with its own source, and adopts neither one alone.

Variant wording for individual units

The profile pages of individual units and the administrative divisions page also differ, chiefly by rounding and by combining categories:

• Yongyang Subdistrict: 130.31 sq km with 29 residents' committees and 3 villagers' committees on the administrative divisions page; "130 sq km" and "32 communities" on the profile page. Rounded, and with the villagers' committees counted among the communities; the underlying numbers agree.
• Shiqiu Subdistrict: 116.47 sq km with 6 residents' committees and 8 villagers' committees on the administrative divisions page; 116.5 sq km and "14 villages and communities, of which 8 villages and 6 communities" on the profile page. Again rounded and combined.
• Hefeng Town: 190.23 sq km on the administrative divisions page; "198 sq km, of which 100 sq km is Shijiu Lake" on the profile page. Here the difference is not rounding but whether the lake waters are counted and what statistical basis is used, a gap of about 8 sq km.

How this library handles it

• Entry fields always use the itemised figures from the administrative divisions page, because that page separates residents' from villagers' committees, gives the finest breakdown, and its eight rows add up to the totals in the page text (81 and 37).
• The rounded areas and combined counts from the profile pages are set out in the body text of the relevant entries. No separate fields are created and no figure is discarded.
• Any citation must say which page and which figure is meant, and must not blend the two into one number with "about" or "roughly".

Points of doubt

• Neither set of figures carries a reference date.
• The reason for the difference between 1,064 and 1,067 sq km is not explained in any document held here.
