Baima Town

Overview

Baima Town lies in the south-east of Lishui District and is one of the district's three towns. The administrative divisions page gives its area as 145.86 sq km, with 6 residents' committees and 4 villagers' committees; its seat is at Baima residents' committee.

Administrative history

Baima Town is not named in any approval abolishing a town in favour of a subdistrict: the approval of July 2015 concerned only Yongyang and Zhetang, and that of May 2018 only Dongping, Honglan and Shiqiu. At the date of the sources held here, Baima remains a town.

Traditional villages within the town

• Shitouzhai Village, in the sixth batch of Chinese traditional villages, published in March 2023 by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and other departments, as recorded in the list reprinted on the provincial housing department's website on 23 March 2023.
• Lixiang, in Shitouzhai Village, in the first batch of traditional villages of Jiangsu (2020).

The two stand to each other as an administrative village and a settlement within it, and have separate entries in the villages section of this library.

Points of doubt

• The origin of the name Baima is not recorded in the sources held here; a place-name entry awaits a source.
• A district government report gives October 2022 as the date Shitouzhai Village "entered" the sixth batch of Chinese traditional villages. That is the date of public notice, not of publication, and any citation must say which is meant.
